Protecting Atlantic salmon across more than 2,000 rivers through science, policy, and conservation action.
Our Founder
NASF was founded in 1989 by Icelandic conservationist Orri Vigfusson, whose innovative agreements with commercial fishermen helped end large-scale salmon fishing in the North Atlantic. His work saved hundreds of thousands of salmon and is widely credited with preventing the collapse of the species.
